South Orange River Day is an annual, community gathering to clean up our section of the Rahway River while celebrating environmental awareness and education. Now in our 13th year with a family friendly river clean up, student scientists of South Orange Middle School, and music courtesy of the South Orange Elks Club! Come to the river!

Check in on Sunday, May 7th, 2023, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. (Rain Date May 14th) at the Skate House by the pond in Meadowland Park (off Mead St.) in South Orange. For updates, including Rain Date notification, follow the SOEC on Facebook or Instagram @sogreenteam or check back with this page.
What to bring
Waterproof boots, old sneakers, or footwear that you don’t mind getting wet
Gloves (if you feel you need them)
Reusable water container (if you think you will need a drink)
Sunscreen or weather appropriate clothing
Curiosity and a sense of community
What not to bring
Flip-flops, sandals or open-toed shoes
Unattended children. Parental supervision is required. Think twice about children under 4 years old in the river
This is a zero waste activity so we will provide reusable collection buckets, gloves, and hand sanitizer only while supplies last.
