Community Coalition on Race hosts “Talking to Children About Race”
The Community Coalition on Race’s Schools Committee presents “Talking to Children About Race: Language Matters” on Thursday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the South Orange Middle School Library (70 N. Ridgewood Road, South Orange).
Dr. Diane Hughes and Blair Cox, race education experts from New York University, will lead an engaging conversation exploring practical tips about antiracism and racial identity. They will be joined by a panel of South Orange and Maplewood parents.
Parents and caregivers of older children in elementary and middle school (5th to 8th grades) are encouraged to attend. Participants will learn about developmental stages, fostering inclusivity at home and addressing stereotypes. Small group discussions will follow the panel.
This is a conversation you won’t want to miss. The event is free, RSVP is required.
