South Orange Downtown is looking for local craftspeople, artisans and vendors to participate in our upcoming Small Business Saturday Street Fair Weekend and Holiday Market. These are temporary outdoor retail outlets that will sell finely crafted jewelry, apparel, accessories, art, food and gift items made by many of our area’s finest local creators.

This year we will be hosting two exciting events, a Small Business Saturday Street Fair Weekend on Saturday, November 30th & Sunday December 1st from 10am-4pm on Village Plaza to kick off the holiday season.

South Orange Downtown Holiday Market will return to Village Plaza on Sunday December 15th and Sunday December 22nd 10AM - 4PM.

VENDOR REGISTRATION FORM

Please fill out vendor application form if you are interested in becoming a vendor at one or all of these events.
Registration fee ($20) is required. Once you submit the form you will be directed to a link for payment.

IMPORTANT NOTES: Submitting an application does NOT GUARANTEE you a spot. SODT will contact you directly with more details shortly following the deadline date.

Upon acceptance to participate, you will be given additional information about street fair and/or market logistics.

Space is limited and slots will fill up quickly

Vendor Information:

Requirements:

  • Products need to be home-made or otherwise unique; i.e. can’t readily find at a retail store

  • No multi- level marketing vendors or big brand names will be accepted

  • Merchants should be local and from New Jersey, with preference given to merchants from South Orange, Maplewood and Essex County

  • Vendor Registration Form and Registration Fee must be completed and received before a vendor will be considered for these events

  • Merchants are REQUIRED to use a 10x10 TENT and are responsible for their full setup (including 10’ x 10’ tent, tables, chairs, tablecloth, lighting, electricity, POS, wifi, bags, etc…) South Orange Downtown will not facilitate any sales.

  • The use of propane or any other heating tools is prohibited

  • No food trucks will be permitted to attend these markets due to space availability

  • Merchants should promote the market on social media and through their own personal marketing channels and tag @southorangedowntown

Please do not attempt to make your market payment ($50) until you have received confirmation from South Orange Downtown for your dates

LOCATION & WEATHER

The market(s) will be held at Village Plaza (20-32 Village Plaza). The street fair and holiday market will run rain or shine. If the market is canceled by South Orange Downtown due to inclement weather, refunds for the canceled market date will be issued within 48 hours. Refunds will not be issued if the vendor chooses not to attend their booked date for any reason.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • This registration form and paperwork submission does NOT guarantee you acceptance to the market. Final approval will be given by South Orange Downtown.

  • To become a food and beverage vendor for this market you will need to be approved by the South Orange Board of Health and South Orange Downtown. All paperwork and approval process will be facilitated through South Orange Downtown (see below)

  • PLASTIC BAG BAN: State law prohibits all Stores (including retail), Food Service Businesses, and Grocery Stores from selling to, or providing their customers with, single-use plastic carryout bags. Find all details about the new law here.


PAPERWORK REQUIRED

Once accepted to the market as a vendor the paperwork below will be required to participate.

All Vendors:

All vendors will be required to provide the following documents upon acceptance into the market. Please submit all documents to lisa@southorangedowntown.org

Food Vendors:

South Orange Downtown Farmers Market works together with the South Orange Board of Health to ensure the safety of the patrons of the market and are required to follow all local health codes related to food safety. Please submit all forms to lisa@southorangedowntown.org

  • Signed Hold Harmless Agreement | Rules & Regulations

  • Submit a Certificate of Business Insurance listing Township of South Orange and the South Orange Village Center Alliance as additional insured.

  • Temporary Food Vendor Application

  • Health Department Business License

  • Health Department Sanitary Inspection Certificate (naming your business)

  • Serv-Safe Sanitary Certificate

  • *If you use a commissary kitchen please also submit the kitchen’s sanitary inspection report and their business license

  • *If you are a cottage food vendor, please also submit your cottage food license

FOOD BUSINESSES THAT PLAN TO COOK ON SITE

*This will require permission from South Orange Downtown due to limited space. Please contact lisa@southorangedowntown.org before applying for this permit.

Once you’ve received permission from South Orange Downtown, food establishments that plan to cook on site at the event must apply for a fire permit. Please see the simple steps below:

  • Click this link to apply for a Type 1 Permit and pay the one-time $54 fee (please make sure to note somewhere on the application that there is a rain date for the event of Sept 15)

  • Submit the mobile food truck/trailer inspection form. This form is required even if you DO NOT have a food truck. Please fill out all that applies to your business.

  • Submit a Certificate of Insurance (COI) listing the Township of South Orange and South Orange Village Center Alliance as additional insured

All forms minus the type 1 permit which gets submitted on the Village website, should be submitted to to lisa@southorangedowntown.org and I will pass them through to the fire inspector.
