Screening of the “Birthing Justice” documentary

SOMA Community Coalition on Race hosts "Birthing Justice" Documentary Screening
Join the South Orange/Maplewood Community Coalition on Race for the screening of “Birthing Justice” documentary to close out Black History Month. The free documentary screening will be held on Thursday, February 29 at 7 p.m. at the South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) Loft (1 SOPAC Way).

For the Community Coalition on Race, this program launches its focus on Black Maternal health that will highlight the major racial disparities in mortality, complications and treatment for Black mothers when compared to white mothers. “Birthing Justice” lays the foundation for the Community Coalition on Race’s forum on March 9 which will consider the impact of racism on health, including biased care practices within clinical care, discriminatory hospital policies, and policy solutions and advocacy measures that support reform.

RSVP is required.
