On Friday, July 31st, the (South Orange Senior Advisory Council) SOSAC met with Acting Director of Public Works Joe Foligno, and Jack Zichelli to thank them for their speedy work! At the ribbon cutting for the railings, Karen Boss and Joe cut the ribbon.
A newcomer to our town called because she couldn't negotiate the steps on Sloan Street with her walker suggested that railings would help her be able to pick up her order from the Village Diner.
A resident tripped on the uneven bricks caused by growing trees near the Gazebo.
The South Orange Senior Advisory Council took these causes to heart and asked for changes. The South Orange Department of Public Works heard them and provided beautiful railings. They also, removed the trees (don't worry, new trees are planned in better locations), and relaid the bricks.
While there, everyone admired the beautiful hanging planters bursting with pansies. They also took a few moments to look at and learn about the new digital kiosk! There was so much to see along Sloan Street including the sparkling fountain, which was being cleaned at that very moment.
Representatives of the SOSAC included Tonia Moore, Ed Moore, Michael Auer, Richard Stern, Karen Boss, and Bill Graves.
