Downtown After Sundown: A Community Tradition Returns June 8

Downtown after Sundown: A Community Tradition RETURNS ON JUNE 8

South Orange, NJ (June 6, 2024) Join South Orange Downtown to kick off Downtown After Sundown (DAS) in Spiotta Park (20-32 Village Plaza), this Sat Jun 8 at 6:30PM. Experience the magic of free live music under the summer sky and discover why Downtown after Sundown continues to be a highlight of the season.

Every Saturday from Jun 8 to Aug 31 from 6:30-8:30 PM, Spiotta Park transforms into a lively hub of entertainment, fostering a sense of community and providing a platform for local and regional musicians to share their talents. Whether you're a long-time resident or a newcomer, DAS is the perfect way to spend your summer evenings, enjoying great music and connecting with your neighbors.

Since its inception in 2009, DAS has stamped itself as an event that brings the community together. What started as a safety initiative during the flash mob era has evolved into a vibrant showcase of musical talent, celebrating the diversity of our community. Originally, DAS featured live music at Spiotta Park and the corner of Sloan Street and South Orange Avenue in front of the Village Diner. Over the years, it has grown into a cultural staple, known for its eclectic mix of genres, reflecting the varied musical tastes of our community members.

This year's lineup is especially diverse, featuring performers such as ANDY LACKOW & MESS AROUND, TOM WARNICK & THE WORLD’S FAIR, DJ NAAZ, FORGET THE WHALE, BOSSA 5, YVONNICK PRENΓ‰ DUO, RINI, THE BURNERS, SARAH HODD & THE DRIVE, VIVA FLAMENCO, KΓ„RMA & THE CADENCE CREW, LAREDO, and VALARIE ADAMS & THE DIMENSIONS BAND. With genres ranging from jazz and blues to flamenco and DJ sets, DAS 2024 promises an exciting and varied musical experience.
